Roxie Nowak is a former basketball player, with a great job in tech and her own swanky place. She doesn’t date, because what’s the point? Men always want someone petite, pillowy, and pastel—everything that Roxie isn’t—so she sticks to casual hookups, and life is good.
As a hot lawyer and a romantic to boot, Chris Dunn should have no trouble finding love. But a gaping hole at his center, left by childhood hurts, prevents him from having the type of relationship he seeks. He knew Roxie years ago, when her basketball career ended, and she inspired him to take the reins to his career.
When Chris moves back to town and into Roxie’s building, their friendship and mutual attraction deepen. They finally give in with blinding intensity, unaware just how combustible the mix of her avoidance and his insecurity can be—until one vindictive ex-lover lights a match.

~Review~
Hi everyone,
today I’m bringing you a review for ‘Shoot your shot’ by Fiona Embers, a new adult romance book. This was my first book by Fiona Embers and I enjoyed it quite a bit.
In this book, we are following two main characters; Roxie and Chris, who know each other since their university years. They both are afraid of love and afraid of what it could do to them, almost. They both have their past with they are fighting with, and it gives them a lot of insecurities. Even if it might feel like it is a very dark book, it isn’t. It is just very realistic to what past trauma can do to us, and it is very nice that it was portrayed in the book, as one doesn’t read a lot about it in fictional work. One can say that this is a very character driven book, and it is something I like a lot in books. Both Roxie and Chris grew as characters. They were portrayed as human beings, instead of perfections.
The writing style was also very captivating and glued me to the seat. I couldn’t stop turning the pages on my Kindle, as I simply had to know what will happen next. I love reading new adult books, especially some with topics this ‘heavy’ one could say. For me, it had a perfect mix of spice, romance and life in it.
If you want to read a spicy book, that isn’t simply spice but also slice of life, I truly recommend you this one. Especially for all of our tall ladies, who are rarely represented in books (this was my first book with a tail FMC). If you are a fan of sports romance where FMC is actually the one doing sports, then you will most likely enjoy this book.
Thanks to Rachel and the publisher for the invite to this tour.
Don’t let anyone dull your sparkle,
